This 1926 picture of the pupils and teacher at Carlton School was donated by Miss Shirley Wilkinson of West Wickham. It includes five of her relations from the Hullyer family.
Eric Hullyer (back right) was the son of Herbert and Louisa Hullyer, of Carlton. He was killed in the Second World War on the 10th December 1940. He was a driver in the Royal Army Service Corps. He was buried in the churchyard of St Peters, Carlton, and his name is commemorated on the war memorial.
Geoffrey William Grainger was born February 7th 1919, and subsequently baptised on 25th May 1919. His parents were George and Emeline Grainger, from Carleton. His father was a horse-keeper. Geoffrey died in 1933 at the age of 14, and was buried in Carlton on the 25th July. His older brother Godfrey was born on the 26th April 1914, and baptised on the 12th May. Their mother died aged 59 and was buried in March 1937, their father was buried in 1942 at the age of 72.
A Ronald Hullyer was buried in Carlton some time after 1996 (the registers where not completed properly).
Winnie Agnes Heath was born July 12th, 1918 to Albert Victor Heath and Elizabeth Edith Westley (who had both only just been married in 18th May 1818). She was baptised on August the 25th. Her father was a gardener and they lived in Carlton.
